finding peacefull in Silalahi Beach

Honestly, I do not really exited to join in this trip. The reason? The scadule does not suits me and my healthy is rather bad. But, I really like the fresh of hills. So here I am, in the middle of the way to go to one of beach near Toba Lake.

We start to go at 9 AM, the destination is Silalahi village, Silalahi Sabungan Region in Dairi, North Sumatera. Fog and rain disturb our trip. We decide to have a lunch before continue our journey. We finally arrive at Silalahi village at 2 PM.

On the one side, we can look Lake Toba from a distance. Then, the hills look more obvious. Even, hundreds years of rocks seen lying among paddy field.

According to my friend, the local people still don’t know about the value of the rock. But the government has started to pay attention to Silalahi Vilage and they planed to make this place to be a geopark area that can be one of toursm asset.

According to the local people, along long ago, this village is a kingdom that built by King Silalahisabungan. That is the reason, there are a monument on the roadside of the village. The monument was named Silalahi Monument. There are relief that told us story about King Silalahi life, it also explain us about King’s family.

After a tiring journey, we arrive at Silalahi Beach in the noon. Fog hide the hill view, we can’t see the hill from the beach. But the fresh air and blue lake make me feel relieved.

Silalahi beach is not like an usual beach. Silalahi beach isn’t part of sea but a part of lake (Toba lake). Local people sometimes call it as tao Silalahi (Silalahi Lake). the edge of the lake which extends nearly 28 miles and looks like a beach, so visitors get to know this place as Silalahi Beach.

In june-july, the wind flow strongly and make a huge wave. It is the reason, Silalahi beach also can be an alternative place to do a water sport. More that that, there are the deepest trench in the world (until 905 M).
