Screening movie at classic Café "Attaby Coffee"

This is the first time for me for coming to this place. I come for joining my friend to create a movie screening in Attaby. We come at 7 PM, and we enjoy our meal before starting the screening.

I order a cup of ice tea and Attaby fried rice, my friend choices is hot chocolate. Taste of the food is rather usual, not bad but nothing special. But I really love the decoration of the café. They take a plat like number plat for motor cycle in each table as the table number. There are an antique bicyle in the middle of the café and some artistic photo in the wall. But the most I want is a big cow doll that stand in front of café, sure I envy of it.

At 8 PM, we start the movie screaning by playing a North Sumatra film titled Nggara. The story is about two teenegers Pati and Suma who meet because of an accident. Suma’s phone had been taken by a thief and Pati save her by using silat karo. After that moment, Suma want to learn silat Karo from pati and they the become closer one and other.  But they don’t realize that suma’s father ever kill pati’s father along ago and it become the biggest losing for pati.

The second movie that we watch is a documentary film titled parkir sejajar. The story is about a mowan tukang parkir in Medan who need to do a man job for her family.

The last film is 1000. It is about a corruption that done by a little child in a little place in Karo. He just take one hundred rupiah from his parents but he really scared. This film is really great and the idea is really fresh. Hope that the programe like this can be done more often.

SANGKAPANE '17 level' WATERFALL

We start this journey because of Putra’s story (putra is one of my friend). He told us about a waterfall that can we climb. The waterfall have 17 level and we can stand on the top of it. I really exited to prove the story. Local people in that place usually call it Sangkapane waterfall.

First, we go to Pinang Baris station from Medan. Then we go to Kuala Simpang by using bus for 2 hour. But we still have a long journey. After that, Putra take us to Bandar Pusaka using his car.

After take a break in putra’s house, we start our journey again. We have some additional participant (putra’s friends decide to join our tour for guiding us). We using truck this time. I can see palm tree along the road. The road is bad, I am being shaked in the truck. The truck stop at the gate of forest. From this place, we must walk by using our own foot.

For enjoying the waterfall, we must walk on slippery rock in the river. The track is not easy, but we really enjoy because of team who join in this journey is fun. After 2 hour, we finally arrive at the first level of the waterfall. I fell bleshing and thakfull for seing such of beautifull things like it. I can not wait to start to climb the second level of the waterfall. But unfortunately, I lose my energy. I stopped in the tenth level.

Before we go back, putra’s friend offere us to eat fish from the river. We absoluty said yess. And putra tell us about elephant and tiger that still alive in the forest, all of people in this place really exited to meet the animal except me (I relly thakfull we didn’t see them. We only see their muck).

But, I need to be honest that Sangkapane Waterfall and Tamiang Forest is one of the best place that I ever come. If you come to North Sumatera or Aceh, you must take this place on your scadule.

finding peacefull in Silalahi Beach

Honestly, I do not really exited to join in this trip. The reason? The scadule does not suits me and my healthy is rather bad. But, I really like the fresh of hills. So here I am, in the middle of the way to go to one of beach near Toba Lake.

We start to go at 9 AM, the destination is Silalahi village, Silalahi Sabungan Region in Dairi, North Sumatera. Fog and rain disturb our trip. We decide to have a lunch before continue our journey. We finally arrive at Silalahi village at 2 PM.

On the one side, we can look Lake Toba from a distance. Then, the hills look more obvious. Even, hundreds years of rocks seen lying among paddy field.

According to my friend, the local people still don’t know about the value of the rock. But the government has started to pay attention to Silalahi Vilage and they planed to make this place to be a geopark area that can be one of toursm asset.

According to the local people, along long ago, this village is a kingdom that built by King Silalahisabungan. That is the reason, there are a monument on the roadside of the village. The monument was named Silalahi Monument. There are relief that told us story about King Silalahi life, it also explain us about King’s family.

After a tiring journey, we arrive at Silalahi Beach in the noon. Fog hide the hill view, we can’t see the hill from the beach. But the fresh air and blue lake make me feel relieved.

Silalahi beach is not like an usual beach. Silalahi beach isn’t part of sea but a part of lake (Toba lake). Local people sometimes call it as tao Silalahi (Silalahi Lake). the edge of the lake which extends nearly 28 miles and looks like a beach, so visitors get to know this place as Silalahi Beach.

In june-july, the wind flow strongly and make a huge wave. It is the reason, Silalahi beach also can be an alternative place to do a water sport. More that that, there are the deepest trench in the world (until 905 M).

EXPLORING THE BAT CAVE

This holiday, I and my friends from Medan decided to find a new experience. If we usually spend our weekend to climb or enjoying waterfall and beach, now we try to exploring cave. Our choice come to the bat cave. Why? Because we interested to see the bat closely. Like we know, bat is a nocturnal animal that really love a dark place, they also find their food in the night.

We go from Medan by using three motorcycle. It is about 12 AM, we arrive at Bukit Lawang’s entrance gate. FYI, there are so many informal payment in Bukit Lawang. So don’t forget to ask your entry ticket after paying in front of the gate. If you forget to take your ticket, you must be pay for second times in the parking area.

We start our journey after having lunch. We need to walk ± 2km. The road is not difficult, there are many sign to guide us. But it is better for us to ask the local people or another tourist if we meet them in the middle of the road.

After 20 minutes walking in the road, we arrive at the gate of the cave. We need to pay IDR 10.000 ( 1 US Dollar) each people. The first thing that I feel is the low temperature, I feel so cold. The light is only from our flashlight. We find a bigger and slippery rock when we walk deeper, but we still can’t see the bat.

We walk step by step, deeper and deeper. The place gonnabe darker. We also see the stalagtit and stalagmite hanging on the roof and the floor. They are sparkling in the dark.
“Be carefull, the rock is slippery.” Said Ancha, one of my friend to remembering the others. They really exited to take a photo and forget about their safety. In the middle of the cave, we can hear the bat’s voices. The bat like to live in the dark place, so we dim the light for making them confortable. I feel the moist and stinky air, it couse of the bat’s muck.
In that time, I curious of the bat that hanging on the roof. So I try to turn the flashlight to the roof. “Subhanallah.” I said. I really shock because of hundreds, no…. I mean thousands of bats hanging above my head.

At the end of the cave, there are a little pond because of the water that seep in the wall. A small fish and green frog live in the pond. This place make me feel relax and the air is so absolutely fresh.
